Eugene Town Square | Eugene, OR

Revitalizing Eugene's Civic Square

  • Est. Completion Date March 2022
  • Budget $55M
  • Scale 40,000 SF

The Eugene Town Square project will reestablish the park blocks at the center of downtown as a major public gathering place, as originally intended by Eugene city founders. This project includes a permanent home for the Lane County Farmers Market, a new City Hall, and revitalized park space. It is envisioned to embrace Eugene’s community, culture, history, values and civic pride.
The Farmers Market space will include a plaza and a covered pavilion for year-round use. The new City Hall will anchor the northwest corner of the Town Square and include space for the City Council chamber as well as the City Manager’s office.  The two Park Blocks will be enhanced with a new covered stage, fountain and other amenities. To encourage public involvement in the design process the city hosted multiple open forums to refine the design and ensure it focused on the aspects most important to Eugene’s residents; 200-500+ residents participated each of the public outreach events.
The first phase of the project, in process during the COVID-19 pandemic, is the design and construction of the Farmers Market Pavilion and Plaza. The new City Hall and renovated Park Blocks will be implemented in future phases.
