Climate Pledge Arena transformed a landmark of Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair into a world-class sports and entertainment venue while preserving its iconic 44-million-pound roof. Located at Seattle Center in the heart of the Uptown neighborhood, the arena was built entirely beneath the existing historic roof, creating a new 820,000 SF facility while retaining a defining piece of Seattle’s architectural and cultural history. The arena opened in 2021 and is home to the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, WNBA’s Seattle Storm, and PWHL’s Seattle Torrent, and hosts a wide range of concerts and events. It features premium amenities including local, sustainably-sourced food and multiple VIP experience options.
 
Sustainability shaped every aspect of the redevelopment. Climate Pledge Arena is the world’s first International Living Future Institute (ILFI) Zero Carbon Certified arena, operating entirely on electricity and powered by 100% renewable energy, while a “Rain to Rink” system harvests rainwater and turns it into rink ice.
